Photo Project Day 5

My Aunt Andie knitted these stockings for our wedding present. These stockings, in red or green (I chose the green) have been in my family for a long time. The pattern, at least. I have it and plan to keep the tradition by knitting stockings for my kids and whoever else.

Our power went out...3 times...the first time was for quite a long time! Madison had to study by candlelight...it smelled crazy with all the different scents, but it worked well enough until the lights came on as he was finishing up!!!

How to make your own ornament tree!

I randomly thought of this in Wal Mart and just made it up as I went. I am fairly happy with how it turned out!

What you need:

1. Cone-shaped (?) foam...yes, I realize this is flower foam, but being in a small town and unfortunately limited to wal mart for my craft needs (ugh) this is what I got.





















2. Small, round ornaments













3. Something to cover the cone (I chose to use some of the 100 feet of pretty silver ribbon my sister gave me)













4. A glue gun

5. An ounce of patience


What I did was cover the cone first with the ribbon, and glue here & there to keep it in place (I may or may not have burnt my finger a few times, since hot glue does go through the ribbon and hurt a lot if you touch it...good work Liz...)



































Next, I glued a ring around the bottom (make sure to set it down and glue it so it isn't crooked - I had to fix a few!















Keep on gluing until you get to the top! Then glue one upside-down on the top, or do what I did: glue a round ornament, then a star on top of it!

I came in under the wire tonight! Here's me in a reflection of an ornament - one from our recently put-up Christmas tree! We still have to buy a topper for it! Last year I made a paper Moravian star, but it didn't survive our move!

December Photo Project Day 1 - My musical husband

M & I have so much fun together jamming quite often, especially after exams are over around the holidays! I love sitting around and making stuff up and thinking of different stuff to play. He was a suzuki violin kid too for a while, and can still play a lot of his pieces. Not only that, but he improvised this evening for just a few minutes as I finished making dinner and I was amazed at his capability to play things on violin that he had never played without mistakes! I really want to work with him a little bit with tone and a few other techniques, and in no time, he will be the one fiddling around town!
